Tutorial: Longa Line Style Rig for Use with RC Fishing Bait Boat S80 TC Evo & S70 TC One

In this tutorial, we’d like to show you an outstanding rig, specially adapted for use with our S80 TC Evo and S70 TC One RC fishing boats.

Today we’d like to introduce one of the most effective rigs for our RC fishing sessions with the S80 TC Evo and S70 TC One bait boats: a Portuguese-style Longa Line, specifically designed for RC bait boat deployment.

In traditional surfcasting, this type of rig is limited by its length, which makes manual casting difficult.

However, thanks to our RC bait boats, it can be deployed with precision up to 500 meters from the shore, completely eliminating this issue.

👉 This rig has been specially engineered by us to avoid tangles during both deployment and retrieval.

⚠️ It is also essential to note that this rig performs best when used with the current, fully taking advantage of natural water movement to keep the snoods fishing effectively.

🎣 But now let’s skip the chatter and get to the actual rig construction:

🧩 Double-rig structure with 3 mobile snoods

Components:

  • Vertical leader: 1.5 m

  • Horizontal leader: 4.5 m

  • Mobile snoods

🔹 SECTION 1 – VERTICAL LEADER

📍 Construction:

  • Cut 150 cm of fluorocarbon Ø 0.35 mm.

  • At the top end, create a Perfect Loop to connect to the mainline.

  • At about 130 cm from the loop, insert two line-stop beads and glue them with 12–15 mm spacing. These will act as stops for the clip bead of the horizontal leader.

  • At the bottom end:

    • Tie on a stainless steel swivel

    • Attach a quick-release clip (Seaspin style)

    • Clip on a 100–150 g sinker

🔷 SECTION 2 – HORIZONTAL LEADER

📍 Construction:

  • Cut 4.5 meters of fluorocarbon Ø 0.35 mm.

  • Insert a clip bead at the start of the leader and fix it with a Portuguese knot.

  • On the free end, insert 4 line-stop beads.

  • Slide the first 2 beads to the 2.5 m mark, glue them in place 12–15 mm apart – this will be the stop point for the first clip bead.

  • Slide the next 2 beads to the 3.5 m mark, glue them in place with 12–15 mm spacing – this will be the stop point for the second clip bead.

  • Tie a stainless steel Micro quick-change swivel to the very end of the horizontal leader.

  • Prepare 3 snoods of 50–90 cm in fluorocarbon Ø 0.18–0.26 mm:

    • Attach 2 mobile snoods to the clip beads using a Portuguese knot

    • Attach 1 fixed snood to the terminal swivel

  • Finally, connect the beginning of the horizontal leader to the Micro quick-change swivel on the vertical leader

✅ FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

This rig has been designed as a modular system, allowing for quick changes of both the horizontal section and snoods.
This setup lets you:

  • Adjust the length of the horizontal leader quickly

  • Change snood lengths (up to 90 cm each)

  • Replace snoods mid-session with pre-baited ones

Such versatility makes it perfect for dynamic, optimized fishing – especially when used with an RC bait boat.

🌊 RECOMMENDED USAGE CONDITIONS

This is a highly versatile and functional rig, ideal for calm sea conditions with a slight lateral current.
It’s most effective when wind and current directions are aligned, ensuring the rig stays perfectly positioned during fishing.

💡 OPTIONAL FLOATATION SETUP

You can add small floaters evenly along the horizontal leader near each snood to lift baits slightly off the bottom.

Alternatively, you can use one larger floater just before the terminal swivel to lift the entire rig.
This is especially useful in muddy bottoms or areas with seagrass, improving bait visibility and presentation.
